TheWineBuyingGuide.com's Top 25 Wines of 2017

By: Kristin Anderson, Editor, TheWineBuyingGuide.com

2017 is officially over, and we've enjoyed some fantastic wines. In winter we enjoyed rich Cabernet Sauvignon and toasty Chardonnay. When spring arrived, it was officiallly rosé season (okay, it's always rosé season). The summer was all about every type of wine, with crisp white winse to keep us cool and fruity red wines to pair with every summer food we could think of.

And then the fall and holiday season ushered in even more excuses to enjoy a glass (or two). We transitioned to wines that pair well with turkey and roast vegetables, and ended the year with a wealth of sparkling wines for every occasion.

It's been quite a year, and it's difficult to narrow down our favorite wines! But we did take a look at the winse that our readers absolutely loved this year, and we're sharing them with you now. Please enjoy these top 25 red, white, rosé, and sparkling wines from 2017.

Top Red Wines of 2017

The best red wines of 2017 included a lot of old favorites. Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon are some of the favorite varietals, perhaps because they go so well with food. These wines are all delicious, and most are easy to find at your local grocery store or wine shop. We expect to continue enjoying these wines well into 2018.

Josh Cellars Legacy Red
Angeline Pinot Noir
Beringer Red Crush
Josh Cellars Merlot
Markham Napa Valley Merlot
Moss Roxx Ancient Vine Zinfandel
Josh Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon
14 Hands Cabernet Sauvignon

Top White Wines of 2017

This list is a fun combination of classic white wines and sweet wines with a little personality. We tried the Gemma di Luna Moscato at the River North Wine Fest in April, and we were smitten with its sweet taste and striking blue bottle. Featuring it on this list brings back great memories of all of the great wines we tried in 2017.

Josh Cellars Chardonnay
Kendall-Jackson Vintner's Reserve Chardonnay
Amity Vineyards White Pinot Noir
Rodney Strong Chalk Hill Chardonnay
Gallo Moscato
Charles Smith Kung Fu Girl Riesling
Bogle Chardonnay
Gemma di Luna Moscato

Top Sparkling Wines of 2017

2017 was a fantastic year for sparkling wines! We featured a lot of Prosecco and Cava, because they're both great alternatives to more expensive sparkling wines. We also enjoyed all kinds of mimosas this year and published one of oure most popular articles: The Best Champagne for Mimosas. Cheers to these great sparkling wines and to a fantastic 2018!

Cupcake Prosecco
Gruet Brut
La Marca Prosecco
Mercat Brut Nature Cava
Codorniu Anna Brut
Poema Brut Cava
