The Charles Smith Velvet Devil Merlot 2014 is appropriately named. This red wine is showy and sumptuous, with a lovely velvety texture. Simmering aromas and flavors of dark fruit, cherry, and blackberry mingle with woodsy notes of cedar, pipe tobacco, and earth. The combination of sweet and savory flavors is almost as intoxicating as the wine. You’ll find it (sinfully?) enjoyable.
The grapes for this red wine were farmed in the Columbia Valley, Washington. It was produced with partially native yeast and went through whole berry fermentation.
